“I grew up in Southern California in an Argentine-American household and I adore making music and spending time in nature. I am profoundly fortunate to say that I get to do these wonderful things often.”

ViolistPraised by The Strad for her “nutty tone” that infuses “richness and beauty” into performances and “impressive” solos, Argentine American violist Aimée McAnulty brings warmth, expressive depth, and individuality to her music making across solo, chamber, and orchestral stages.
Performance highlights include appearances in Buenos Aires and Salta, Argentina, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Caramoor and Schneider Concert series in New York as well as collaborations with the Pacifica Quartet and Takács Quartet. She has appeared as a soloist with the Olympia Orchestra in California, and as a recitalist in several venues throughout Colorado and abroad.
As a member of the Ivalas Quartet for several seasons she regularly performed in concert halls and educational spaces aiding the quartets mission in bringing visibility of musicians of color to schools, encouraging inclusive programming and accountability. In 2022, Ivalas Quartet won the First and Grand Prizes at the Coltman Chamber Music Competition. Additionally, she can be heard playing “Warmth of Other Suns” by Carlos Simon, produced by Rising Sun Records; a project spear-headed by the Sphinx Organization and acclaimed pianist Lara Downes.
As a dedicated educator, Aimée draws on her experience as a young Waldorf School student for inspiration, highlighting wholesome and healthy mental wellness principles as well as nurturing well-rounded future artist citizens. Her teaching highlights this responsibility while simultaneously encouraging playful, sandbox-like creativity, reflecting her own priorities as an artist citizen. During her tenure with the Ivalas Quartet, she was involved in launching the inaugural Lincoln Center Chamber Music Society’s “Chamber Music Beginnings”, a three-part series bringing interactive and immersive chamber music experiences to schools in New York City. She also held fellowships with Caramoor in upstate NY and at the Juilliard School, which brought about opportunities to play at additional schools, medical facilities and detention centers. In Colorado, she has led masterclasses and given performances at El Sistema Colorado and at public and private schools throughout the state, often in both English and Spanish.
Aimée received her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Michigan studying with Yizhak Schotten. She went on to attend University of Colorado, Boulder for the Artist Diploma in String Quartet studying with the Takács Quartet, and then an additional Artist Diploma program at the Juilliard School studying with the Juilliard String Quartet and Brentano Quartet violist Misha Amory. She will be completing a Master of Music degree in Viola Performance in Spring 2027 at CU Boulder.
Aimée resides in Westminster, Colorado and can be seen regularly on stage with the Boulder Philharmonic, Colorado Springs Philharmonic, and as Assistant Principal of the Cheyenne Symphony. She also enjoys chamber performances with ensembles such as the Baumer String Quartet, Sphere Ensemble, Compass Resonance and the acclaimed Takács Quartet. She is a regular call to play gigs and with touring bands across Colorado, Wyoming and Montana.
Her beloved instrument is a modern viola made in 2013 by Polish luthier, Stanley Kiernoziak. Aimée is an AirturnDuo ambassador and exclusively uses their equipment for performances.
